Thermal Insulation Materials
THERMAL INSULATION MATERIALS
What Are Thermal Insulation Materials ?
- Insulation materials run the gamut from bulky fiber materials such as fiberglass, rockwool, cellulose, and natural fibers to rigid foam boards to sleek foils. Bulky materials resist conductive heat flow in a building cavity. Rigid foam boards trap air or another gas in their cells to resist conductive heat flow. Highly reflective foils in radiant barriers and reflective insulation systems reflect radiant heat away from living spaces, making them particularly useful in cooling climates. Other less common materials such as cementitious and phenolic foams and perlite are also available.
- Ceramic fibre and glass fibre materials are high temperature insulating fabrics woven into a range of different products. Both grades display resistance to oils, solvents and thermal shock, good chemical stability, and are unaffected by bacterial growth. They're also incredibly lightweight, non-combustible, and versatile, making them popular for use in a wide range of industrial applications.
- Both ceramic and glass fibre products exhibit exceptional chemical resistance properties, counteracting effects from the majority of corrosive agents. Known exceptions include hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid and concentrated alkalis.
